MS in Business Analytics Overview

Business analytics is the process of transforming raw data into business intelligence and insight. Offered through the AACSB-accredited Manning School of Business, our Master of Science in Business Analytics program will help you:

  • Develop the ability to collect, manage and analyze data from various sources.
  • Enhance your understanding of business processes and systems.
  • Develop the ability to understand and communicate insights from descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics.

Our flexible program offers courses that may be taken on-campus and online through our online Business Analytics program.

Business Analytics Curriculum

The Master of Science in Business Analytics requires 10 courses (30 credits). Students complete a core of seven required courses (21 credits) and then complete three courses (nine credits) within one of six tracks:

  1. Analytical Skills: Program graduates will be able to use strong quantitative and analytical skills through the integration of business analysis, data management, and diagnostic problem-solving skills in order to support management decision-making.
  2. Communication Skills: Program graduates will be able to clearly, efficiently, and effectively communicate business-related information by applying both oral and written methods.
  3. Ethical Data Management: Program graduates will be able to apply ethical reasoning for supporting individual and corporate data security and privacy decisions.
  4. Team Management & Leadership: Program graduates will be able to apply team management skills as both an effective team member and leader.

  • Letters of Recommendation: Two (2) for master's, three (3) for doctoral applicants.
  • Transcripts: You may apply with unofficial transcripts, but if accepted, official transcripts are required. 
  • Test Scores: UMass Lowell’s school code is 3911. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is required for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) applicants. It is accepted, but not required, for master's applicants.
