Boat, Board and Equipment Sales

You may schedule a time to come see any boat you are interested in. You are not required to reserve it online first, but please know, it could be reserved by someone else before you try it if you don't reserve it.
Typically, kayaks are used for several seasons during rental and instructional programs from May into September, mostly on site on the Merrimack River. They are maintained throughout the season by kayak center staff and experience normal wear and tear due to rental and summer conditions; some typical wear you may see are: scratches on the hull, discolored deck lines due to sun exposure, or worn-out bungie cords. Such conditions do not significantly affect the integrity of the equipment. All kayaks are sold as-is and are available for pickup in person only. We do not deliver. We turn over boats every 3-4 years or so. We typically have used paddles and Personal Flotation Devices (PFD) available.
For 2025 sales:
- All are structurally sound, seaworthy and comfortable. Ready to paddle!
- The Tsunami 125's were originally bought in 2019. Appropriate for smaller and larger water, comfortable cockpit, hatches for gear. Good for a beginner or intermediate paddler! These boats hold their value over time nicely.
- The Polaris Tandems were bought in 2020. These boats have two separate cockpits, plus hatches for gear. Appropriate for medium to larger water; holds a straight line nicely. Both have a rudder; the rudder hardware works, but may need some replacement parts in the future.
- The Perception Cove Tandems were bought in 2022. They both have somewhat worn out "soft goods" like the pads for the sides of knees, easily replaced if you desire. Comfortable for people of many different sizes, perfect for toodling around the lake or river. A great boat!

Payment and Reservation
Boats, boards and accessories must be paid for in full via credit card in order to be reserved. All sales reservations are first come first serve. Many models have multiple units of various color/wear/use. Specific units are selected on a first come first served basis at time of pickup. You may request a full refund if you decide not to take a boat that is reserved/fully paid for.
Pick Up of Purchased Boats, Boards and Equipment
All boats and other equipment may be picked up by appointment at the Bellegarde Boathouse, 500 Pawtucket Boulevard, Lowell, MA 01854. The Kayak Center is the right-most garage bay door.
Fully paid and reserved items will be available for pickup by scheduled appointment. To schedule an appointment based on mutual availability, please email Kate Ford: Kate_Ford@uml.edu.
Please bring your own kayak straps and rope. We have some foam kayak car-top carrier pads available for sale, if needed.
All Items Sold Used, As Is
A good faith effort will be made to ensure all essential features of boats and equipment are functioning properly at the time of pickup. Most equipment will have minor to moderate cosmetic blemishes and normal wear and tear. Upon taking possession of equipment all repairs are the responsibility of the purchaser.
Multiple Units of Same Model
To purchase multiple units of the same model, please email Kate Ford at: kate_ford@uml.edu for availability. Due to our system limitations, the same customer cannot register online for the same model multiple times.
Cancellation
In the event that a customer wishes to cancel their purchase before they take possession of the item(s), they may do so at any time up until they take possession of it. You may reserve the item with payment, and then come look at it, sit in it, and fully inspect it. If for any reason, you decide it is not right for you before you take possession of it, we will fully refund your payment.
Returns and Refunds
Returns will not be accepted after a boat, board or equipment leaves our facility. Once a customer takes possession of equipment, the sale is considered final.
Waitlist
After the available items have been reserved, customers registering for unavailable items will be placed on a waitlist. Credit card information will be collected but no charge will be made. In the event that a cancellation is made or additional units become available the next waitlisted customer will be contacted. Upon notification of an available unit, waitlisted customers will have approx. 24 hours to respond and complete the purchase or decline before the next waitlisted customer will be contacted. If declined, all claims to the sale are immediately forfeited.
