Biosketch
Originally from Uganda, East Africa, Patrick's journey began at the intersection of environmental sustainability and plastic pollution. With a bachelor's degree in Biosystems Engineering, he spent four years in Uganda's recycling industry, developing practical solutions to local plastic waste management challenges.
Witnessing firsthand the global impact of plastic pollution ignited Patrick's passion for plastics recycling and the urgent need for innovative solutions. This experience, combined with his engineering background, propelled him to pursue advanced expertise in materials science and sustainability.
Currently a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidate in Plastics Engineering at UMass Lowell, Patrick is dedicated to reimagining the future of polymeric materials through innovative approaches to plastic waste management and materials development. His research focuses on the sustainable use of plastics, ensuring they benefit society while protecting ecosystems. He aims to create sustainable solutions that can be implemented in both developed and developing regions.
As a member of the SWIMMER Program, Patrick is excited to collaborate with experts and innovators, working together to drive transformative solutions at the intersection of science, sustainability, and real-world impact.
