On Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 5 a.m., UMass Lowell will make a required encryption update to the eduroam Wi-Fi network. As a result of this change, most devices will stop connecting to eduroam automatically.

In order to get reconnected, you'll need to perform a straightforward process, after 5:00 am on June 18 (you cannot do it before then). In summary, those steps are:

  1. Remove (or ‘forget’) the eduroam network from your device’s Wi-Fi settings.
If you go into your Wi-Fi settings and eduroam isn't there anymore, that's OK - in some cases, IT was able to remove that for you.
  2. Reconnect to eduroam as if it’s your first time joining that Wi-Fi network.

Detailed instructions and videos can be found below for every platform. Note that you must be on the UMass Lowell campus to follow these steps.

Note: If you have the “Stolen Device Protection” feature enabled on your iOS device, you may see a screen to Begin Security Delay to Install Profile. This is part of the Stolen Device Protection service and it will require you to wait one hour before proceeding. If you see this screen, click Start Security Delay to begin the one hour delay.
