The course applies the economic method to the study of sports, by combining economic theory with its empirical applications. We will also go over some of the main economic institutions of sports, by studying their evolution over time and making comparisons across countries. Examples of topics studies are: discrimination and gender wage gap in sports; the economics of college sports; the role of government in subsidizing sports.
