Biosketch

Brian Arrigo serves as the Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Operating Officer at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. In this role, he oversees the university’s budget and finances, facility management and planning, information technology, public safety and auxiliary services. Brian is an accomplished public-sector executive with nearly two decades of experience leading complex organizations, managing multimillion-dollar budgets, and driving transformative operational improvements.

Arrigo previously served as commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), where he oversaw the Commonwealth’s diverse range of recreational facilities including state beaches, golf courses, ice rinks, parks and trails. 

Prior to DCR, Brian was mayor of Revere, Massachusetts, where he guided the fastest-growing city in the Commonwealth, attracting nearly $2 billion in private investment and spearheading major infrastructure projects including a new high school, public works facility and fire station.

In 2023 Arrigo was elected president of the Massachusetts Mayors’ Association. Prior to being elected mayor, Arrigo was a city councilor and held various finance positions with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), the City of Somerville, the District of Columbia’s City Council and the Massachusetts Senate Committee on Ways and Means. 

A graduate of Suffolk University, Arrigo resides in Acton with his wife, Daveen, and their two sons, Joseph and Jack.
